This is Karl Heinz a friend of the family on one of August Marx's delivery horses. He is about 7 or 8 years old, Karl was killed during WWII.
This picture would have been taken around 1935. They are in front of the house in Wolkengasse 18, Geissen, Germany where the family lived from the mid 20's to the 50's.
The August and Margarette Marx family home at Wolkengasse 18, Geissen, German in 1944 after the house next door was hit by a bomb during WWII. The family Birkenstock lived in the home. Mr. Birkenstock was killed in the war. Ms. Birkenstock married an American Soldier names LaBarre and moved the family to America. There were three children the middle one was a very gifted young man who became a Physician in Kansas. Ms LaBarre is now 98 years old and living in an assisted living facility close to her daughter Barbara in Kansas.
